Arthur R. Benson

Art was born July 30, 1943, in the Town of Napoli to the late John R. and Iona E. (Remington) Benson.

He was a 1962 graduate of Randolph Central School. He loved farming and following high school worked his own dairy farm for over 20 years along with driving school bus for Randolph Central School. In the late 1980s he was elected Highway Superintendent for the Town of Napoli, which then led him to go on to work for the N.Y.S. Department of Transportation, where he was a truck driver for over 12 years.

Art supported his daughters in their 4-H endeavors through the Cornell Cooperative Extension.

He was also very active in the Amish Community, making many lasting friendships.

Art attended Faith Bible Chapel for over 30 years.

He is survived by his wife, Phyllis R. (Rininger) Benson, whom he married on August 29, 1986, in Levant Wesleyan Church, four daughters; Kelly (Mark) Brock of Dallas, TX., Karin (Tom) Donnell of Ashville, NY, Karyl Benson of Dubois, Wyoming and Kerri (Gary) Harvey of Randolph, and a son Matthew (Lauren) Johnson of Washington, DC, 11 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Audrie Travis.

The family will be present to receive visitors from 10 AM to noon, Friday, December 8, 2023, at the Faith Bible Chapel, 117 Jamestown Street, Randolph, NY 14772 followed by funeral services at 12:00 Noon. The Rev. Edwin Ramirez, pastor, will officiate. A committal service will follow at the South Napoli Cemetery.
