Floris J. Allen

Floris was born on October 15, 1925 in Jamestown, N.Y., the daughter of the late Fred and Josephine Dahlgren Billquist.

Floris graduated from Jamestown High School in 1943. She went on to nursing school in New York City and trained at Belleview Hospital. She was a Registered Nurse at Jamestown General Hospital and WCA Hospital.

Floris was a member of the First Lutheran Church. She was an avid gardener and enjoyed knitting, crafts, and painting various things. Her main priority was raising and caring for her family. She enjoyed traveling across the U.S. with her husband and children and camping throughout the years with her family. Floris enjoyed getting together each month with her nursing friends.

Floris is survived by her daughter: Kathy L. (David) Ziebart of Ashville, N.Y.; three sons: Tim K. (Diana) Allen of Jamestown, N.Y., David B. (Lynn) Allen of Jamestown, N.Y. and Robert T. (Dionne) Allen of Monta Vista, CO; two grandsons: Shawn (Katie) Allen and Scott (Megan) Allen and three great-grandchildren: Joshua, Tabitha and Henry Allen.

In addition to her parents, Floris is preceded in death by her husband Percy L. Allen (July 24, 2009) and an infant daughter: Mary Allen.

Family and friends may call at Powers, Present & Sixbey Funeral Home, Inc., 316 E. 5th St., Jamestown, N.Y. on Saturday from 10 AM – 11 AM and may attend a funeral service at 11 AM. Burial will be in Allen Cemetery, Jamestown, N.Y.
