Clair E. “Fuzzy” Himes
Clair E. “Fuzzy” Himes, 93, of Sugar Grove, PA, died peacefully with family by his side, Wednesday, November 15, 2023, at Corry Memorial Hospital.
Clair was born July 23, 1930, in Hartfield, NY, the son of the late Elmer and Sarah Himes. He was raised on the family farm in Chautauqua County. He was a Union Carpenter, contractor, and jack of all trades who could build or fix anything.
Clair was a member of the Russell United Methodist Church, the American Legion, the Moose Lodge, and the Eagles Club in both Warren and Dade City. He spent his summers in Hidden Valley, NY, and his winters in Dade City, FL. He enjoyed his motorcycle, snowmobile and his 4pm Happy Hours with Bill Sumner. He was a former golfer, loved his 1930 Model A Ford, an avid Pittsburgh Steeler and sports fan, and camping. He enjoyed life, and loved his family, especially his grandchildren.
Clair is survived by his children, Sherry Lawson and husband Doug of Sugar Grove, PA, Julie Haser of Warren, Judy Hollabaugh and husband Joe of Viola, AR; his daughter in law Susan Himes; eight grandchildren, Sarah Boger and husband Luke, Douglas Lawson Jr., Kate Borland and husband Jake, Matthew Himes and wife Julie, Curtis Himes and partner Allison, Leslie Fleming and husband Jim, Tyson Himes and wife Charlotte, and Hannah Streich and husband Chris; eleven great grandchildren; sister Fern Hiller of Frewsburg, NY, who he spent many Monday’s with eating hotdogs and French fries; special nephew, Fred Himes and wife Rita; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Clair is preceded in death by a son, Larry Himes; and 14 siblings.
Friends will be received at Peterson-Blick Funeral Home Inc., 1003 Penna Ave. E., Warren, PA, from 2:00pm to 4:00pm on Sunday, November 19, 2023. A Memorial service will be held at 11:30am at Russell United Methodist Church, 17 N. Main St., Russell, PA, on Monday, November 20, 2023, with Reverend Bay Allen, pastor, officiating.
