Carol R. Newman
Carol R. Newman, 81, formerly of Levant-Gerry Rd., Falconer passed away Thursday (November 16, 2023) in the Lutheran Home.
She was born March 24, 1942 in Corry, PA, the daughter of the late Robert and Doris Lewis.
Carol was a graduate of Jamestown High School and in earlier years was employed by First National Bank in Jamestown. Prior to retirement she was employed by Covey Tree Service.
She was a member of the Red Hat Society and served as President of the Residents Council at the Lutheran Home. Carol was a social member of the Vietnam Veterans Association. She enjoyed going for a ride with her “besties” for a cup of soup, half sandwich, and a beer. Carol also enjoyed sewing, knitting, crocheting, quilting, and playing cards.
Surviving are three children: Doreen Ryder of Jamestown, Jody K. Schurman of Lakewood, Jonathan R. (Michelle) Newman of Falconer; eight grandchildren: Starr Ryder, Freedom Ryder, Sunn Ryder, Skye Ryder, Nicole Schurman, Orry Schurman, Javen Newman, Samantha Newman; ten great grandchildren: Timathy White, Emma Schurman, Grace Schurman, Matthew Moore, Joseph Moore, Joshua Ryder, Lucas (Cora) Burch, Carter Newman Ryder, Aethon Ryder, Daysunn Ryder; and a great great grandchild Harper Burch.
Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Phillip W. Newman whom she married April 21, 1962, who died October 27, 1998; her son-in-law Quentin Schurman and an infant brother.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday in the Christ Chapel of the Lutheran Home, 715 Falconer St., Jamestown. Rev. Laura Csellak will officiate. Inurnment will be in Ross Mills Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday in the Falconer Funeral Home and one hour prior to the funeral service Monday in Christ Chapel of the Lutheran Home.
