Alta M. Stufflebeam
Alta M. Stufflebeam, 92, formerly of Kennedy passed away Sunday (November 12, 2023) in Woodridge Assisted Living in Monroe, NC where she resided for the past two months.
Alta was born May 25, 1931 in Andover, Ohio, the daughter of the late OK and Ferna Bates Thurber.
She was a 1950 graduate of Panama High School and was employed by Falconer Central School for 30 years as a teacher’s aide at Paul B. D. Temple Elementary School retiring in 1997.
Alta was a member of Fluvanna Community Church and was a Sunday School teacher. She will be remembered for her strong Christian Faith and was always willing to help children attend Sunday church services. Alta was a member of various church committees and enjoyed cooking and baking.
Surviving is two sons: Dennis (Candy) Stufflebeam of Monroe, NC, Randall Stufflebeam of Gastonia, NC; three grandchildren: Jared (Ashley) Stufflebeam of Gastonia, NC, Ashleigh (Michael) Pilotte of Monroe, NC, Kacyn (Ryan) Cheney of Frewsburg; nine grandchildren: Raegan, Bryn and Hazel Cheney, Carleigh, Ronin and Falon Stufflebeam, Hayes, Austin, and Brooks Pilotte.
Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Kenneth R. Stufflebeam whom she married March 25, 1952, who died February 24, 2017; a grandson Austin Brooks Stufflebeam; three sisters: Mildred Jones, Dorothy Patton and Doris Daily.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Inurnment will be in Myrtle Cemetery, Kennedy, NY.
