George “Geo” A. D’Angelo
George “Geo” A. D’Angelo, 68, of Jamestown passed away on Thursday(October 26, 2023) at UPMC Hamot following an 18 year courageous battle with MDS.
He was born on November 27, 1954 in Jamestown, the son of the late Joseph P. D’Angelo Jr. and Vincie R. Mancuso D’Angelo Dejoe.
Geo was a 1972 graduate of Jamestown High School. He met his wife, the late Carol Spangenburg, through mutual friends that became family, and they were married on May 28, 1982. George worked for Jamestown Metal and the GA Home.
Prior to retirement, he was employed as an engineer at Cummins Engine for 37 years retiring in 2014. There he was proud to have received the lifetime achievement award.
George had interests in sports, automobiles, fishing, and hunting. He coached softball, and belonged to the Jamestown Trap and Skeet Club, and Der Kobblers Car Club. He was an avid Yankees, Bills, and NHRA fan. He was his daughter’s number one softball fan, coaching them through their careers. He enjoyed spending his free time at Terminal Collison with his motorhead friends.
Surviving are two daughters: Cara J. (Ty Johnson) D’Angelo of Bellefontaine, OH, Jessica L. D’Angelo (Tim Ode) of Jamestown; four sisters: JoAnn (Fred) Catalano of Dunkirk, NY, Marie (Charles) Rensel of Ashville, NY, Jennifer (Fred) Becker of Williston Park, NY, Elizabeth (James) Rensel of Lakewood, NY; thirteen nieces and nephews; four grand nephews; one grandniece; two brother-in-laws: Ronald Spangenburg (Debera Sheick) of Rochester, NY, Larry (Cathy) Spangenburg of Falconer, and sister in law: Cheryl (Frank) Tilaro of Ogden, UT.
Besides his parents, Geo was preceded in death by his wife of 34 years Carol Spangenburg D’Angelo; and several cousins, aunts, and uncles.
The funeral will be held on Tuesday, October 31, 2023 at 10 a.m. in the Falconer Funeral Home. Father Daryl will officiate. Burial will be in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
Friends will be received Monday, October 30, 2023 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be donated to the Der Kobblers Car Club.
