Jacqueline D. Casler Brittain
MAYVILLE- Jacqueline D. Casler Brittain, 87, of Mayville, passed away at UPMC Chautauqua Hospital on Tuesday, August 29, 2023, after battling a long illness.
She was born May 1, 1936, in Mayville, NY, the daughter of the late Julian and Lyle Parkhurst Casler. Jackie graduated from Mayville Central School in 1954 and had been nominated as “Best Dressed” in her class. She had worked many jobs, but in her later years she just loved staying on her family farm and spending time with her family and friends.
She had a loving heart for animals. As a young girl, she had a horse named “Pal”, and also loved her many cats and dogs over the years. She enjoyed flower gardening, her movie star magazines, old movies, walking on her property, and collecting dolls and beanie babies. She loved Elvis, her makeup, perfume and ALL of her jewelry!!! She was the aunt who would babysit her many nieces and nephews.
Jackie is survived by two sisters: Marilyn Bazan of Laguna Woods, CA, and Suzanne (Ernest) Rammelt of Westfield, NY, several nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and great great nieces and nephews, a stepson, Myrl (Kathie) Miller of Jonesboro, GA and her good friend and neighbor, Barb Cybart. The family would also like to acknowledge and thank the staff at Chautauqua Nursing and Rehabilitation in Dunkirk, NY for their love and care for Jackie.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her late husband, Rockford Brittain and a sister and brother-in-law: Linda and Ronald Davidson.
At Jackie’s request, there will be no public services observed. A private graveside service will be held in the Mayville Cemetery at the convenience of the family. The family will have a celebration of life in the spring of 2024 and will announce details at a later date.
