Harry R. Blose
Harry R. Blose, 82, of Busti passed away Monday, July 3, 2023 in his home after a 16-year battle with prostate cancer.
A Jamestown area resident most of his life, he was born Oct. 26, 1940 in Punxsutawney, PA, the son of the late Paul D. and Verda Heeter Blose.
Throughout his working years, Harry’s occupation was a tool and die maker. He was employed by Hanson Tool, Weber Knapp, Reliance Mold, and Cummins Engine in Lakewood. Harry officially retired from his job at Cummins in 1999.
Harry was a member of the National Antique Car Club, Road Rats Car Club and Loyal Order of Moose. He enjoyed tinkering with anything that had a motor. Relatives, friends, and neighbors knew Harry as “the man who could fix anything.” People always joked that if Harry could not fix it, the thing was really broken. Harry was very meticulous with the lawn and its daily appearance. Often, he was heard saying in the summer “I just mowed four days ago and I need to mow again already.” Harry’s biggest challenge started in 1982, restoring his 1950 Oldsmobile Rocket 88 Fastback to its original driving condition. Once restored, after 34 years, he loved driving the Olds to many area car shows.
Surviving is his wife Carol J. King Blose whom he married Nov. 18, 1961; three children: Darcey (David) Mitchell of Pensacola, FL, Todd Blose of Jamestown, Michael (Terri) Blose of Shepherdsville, KY; three grandchildren: Kerianna Mitchell, Cameron Blose, Lauren Blose; two sisters: Shirley Heilman of Tennessee and Judy Beatty of California.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers Paul and Richard Blose, and a sister Joyce Toth.
At Harry’s request, there will be no visitation or service observed.
Following cremation, inurnment will be in Busti Cemetery.
