Jeffrey L. and Judith A. Church
Jeffrey L. and Judith A. Church both 66, perished together in their Gerry home as the result of a fire Sunday, April 30, 2023. They were husband and wife for 47 years and married on May 8, 1976.
Jeff was born Sept. 14, 1956 in Jamestown and is the son of Walter Church of Celeron and the late Delores Dowd Church.
Judy was born June 14, 1956 in Dunkirk and is the daughter of the late William and Margaret Hennessey Wills.
They were graduates of Cassadaga Valley Central School class of 1974.
Jeff was employed as an engineer at Truck-Lite, Falconer for over 20 years retiring in 2022. He was a talented gunsmith since 16 years old. Jeff also enjoyed hunting ducks, geese and fishing. He was a highly intelligent man with astute mechanical knowledge who could fix and /or fabricate anything.
Judy was the “Master Gardiner” for Heritage Ministries for over 25 years retiring in 2020. She had a giving and generous personality and admired nature, enjoyed bird watching, was always in the garden, collected antiques and was a talented seamstress who made clothes including wedding dresses and Halloween costumes. She was a member of the former Gerry Free Methodist Church.
They enjoyed deer hunting together and were members of the NRA.
Parents of Justine (Louis) Lombardi, of Rensselaer, Joanna (Mitchell) Sommers of Stockton and Jeremiah (fiance Hannah Currier) Church of Brunswick, ME; grandparents of Louis and Eugene Lombardi, Camerrin Nocero, Lexa Sommers and Freja Church; Judy is sister of Sally (Norman) Caja, Becky (Craig) Kofod and Fred (Mary Ann) Wills.
Jeff is brother of Debbie Barmore, Susan (Michael) McFarren and Shelly (Morgan) Young and step-son of Diane Church.
They are survived by nieces and nephews.
Visitation Friday 4-7 p.m. in the Park Church, 49 Sinclair Dr., Sinclairville with the funeral service commencing at 7 p.m.
