David Miller

David Miller, 89, a lifelong resident of Jamestown, passed away Wednesday, April 5, 2023. He was born May 15, 1933, the son of the late Carl John Rudolph and Tekla Anderson Miller.

David was an avid golfer and fisherman. He enjoyed golfing with his friends at Chautauqua Golf Course for many years and had 3 holes in one, one in his mid-80s. He also enjoyed deep sea fishing, trout fishing, walleye fishing, and ice fishing with his grandson Cooper.

David was drafted into the Army and served in the Korean War. He returned home and worked for Laco Roofing and Frontier Insulation until his retirement in 1995.

He met his wife the former Beryl Shaffer and they married in 1956. He built both of their homes and also put additions on his son and daughter’s homes. He could fix anything.

Surviving besides his wife are a daughter, Debra Gardner, and son, Douglas (Annette) Miller both of Falconer. He is also survived by grandchildren, Tyler Miller of Brooklyn, New York, Cooper Miller, of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Sean (Amy) Gardner of Phoenix, Arizona, Erin (Neil) Goldberg of Wyckoff, New Jersey, Megan (Shawn) Whitmer of Jamestown, and Emma Gardner of Jamestown. He also has several great grandchildren, Mia, Shea, and Jolie Goldberg of Wyckoff, New Jersey and Bree Whitmer from Jamestown, and a brother, Tim (Janet) Miller of Falconer and many nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents David was preceded in death by a brother, Rudolph Jr. and a great-granddaughter, Ada Ruth Dohl Whitmer.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Donations can be made to the Fluvanna Fire Department where he was a lifetime member.
