Richard C. Engdahl

He was born March 27, 1931, in Dewittville, N.Y., the son of the late Theodore R. and Geneva Parker Engdahl.

He was a 1949 graduate of Mayville Central School. Richard was a farmer for several years and also retired from Chautauqua County Soil & Water Conservation District after 25 years. He then went on to work for the United States Postal Service delivering mail. After retiring from that, he worked as a Crop Insurance adjuster. He was a member of the Dewittville Fire Department for many years.

Richard enjoyed traveling, spending time with his grandchildren, watching their sporting events, and spending time outdoors on his farm.

He is survived by former wife and life partner Jeannette Sphon Engdahl of Dewittville, four daughters: Wanda Savioli of Ohio, Barbara Engdahl of Florida, Virginia Bohall of Dewittville, Joanne Tofil of Westfield; a son, Charlie Engdahl of Florida, one sister, Dianne Goodrich of Dewittville; fourteen grandchildren: Bryon, Stacy, Amanda, Victoria, Eric, Julie, Heather, Danielle, Brittney, Kerry, Kimberly, Ryan, Daniel, Laura, fifteen great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son David Engdahl in 2004 and granddaughter Christina Bohall in 2007.

At Richard’s request, there will be no services observed at this time. A private memorial service at a later date at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in the Dewittville Cemetery.
