William F. “Bill” Paddock

MAYVILLE – William F. “Bill” Paddock, 93, of Mayville, NY passed away peacefully Monday morning, January 16, 2023 in Westfield Memorial Hospital following a brief illness with his children near his side.

Bill was born September 24, 1929 in Ripley, NY a son to the late Frank L. and Myrtle V. (Raynor) Paddock. He attended Mayville Central School and graduated in the class of 1948. Following high school, Bill went to work for Chautauqua Malted Milk in Mayville, NY until 1951 when he was drafted and went on to proudly serve his country with the US Army, being honorably discharged in 1953. Upon his return home, Bill returned to the Milk Plant and continued working there for an additional 30 years until his retirement.

On July 2, 1955, Bill married the love of his life, Evelyn, in Hartfield, NY in the United Brethren Church. Together they raised three wonderful children.

Bill kept busy during his retirement years and worked seasonally for Seneca Grape in Portland, NY, was employed by Green’s Flower Shop in Westfield as a floral delivery person, and had been employed by the Freay funeral home in Mayville and the Morse funeral home in Brocton for many years as an attendant.

When time permitted, Bill enjoyed reading, traveling and going camping with his wife Evelyn.

He was a faithful parishioner of the First United Methodist Church of Westfield, NY.

In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his loving wife of 66 years , Evelyn, who passed on October 15, 2021; sisters; Jenette Robins, June Freeman Cole, and Julia Heil, brothers; Donald J., Paul and Merle Paddock.

Bill leaves behind to cherish his memory, his daughter Susan Cummings, his sons, Jeff (Brenda) and Randall (Janet) Paddock all of Mayville, NY, 10 beloved grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren, and one great-great grand child. Also surviving are his sisters-in-law; Josephine (the late Pete) Knowlton and Marian (Woody) Braley, Mickie Farr and brother-in-laws, Jerry (the late Gladys) Farr, Gene (the late Eleanore) Farr, Tom (Ada) Farr and Everett ‘Sonny’ (Kathy) Farr, and several nieces and nephews.

Family and friends may call at the MORSE FUNERAL HOME, 51 Highland Avenue, Brocton, NY on Thursday, January 19, 2023 from 6- 8 pm where funeral services will be held there on Friday, January 20, 2023 at 11:00 AM with Pastor Nick Perry of the First United Methodist Church of Westfield officiating.

Burial will follow in the Westfield Cemetery, Academy Street, Westfield, NY.
