Carole A. Faust

She was born December 30, 1940, in Jamestown, NY, the daughter of the late Shirley W and Hazel Geertson Rothra.

Carole was a 1958 graduate of Mayville Central School. She then earned a BS in Education from Fredonia State College before becoming an Elementary School Teacher for Mayville Central School, where she retired from.

She was a member of St Paul’s Episcopal Church in Mayville where she had sung in the choir for several years, the Lakewood Rod and Gun Club, and the NYS Teachers Association. She enjoyed reading the newspaper and cutting out newspaper clippings to send to people, swimming in her pool, camping, traveling to Florida for spring break, and her Bichon Frise dogs. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family.

Carole is survived by her two children; Tracy (Daniel) Roemer of Mayville, NY, and Steven (Sherry) Nowell of Jamestown, NY, four grandchildren; Brandon (Tara) Mitchell of Honolulu, HI, Carly (Alex) Davis of Dewittville, NY, Elizabeth (Sam Aults) Nowell of Pittsburgh, PA, and Steven (Alize) Nowell, Jamestown, NY, two great-grandchildren; Ella and Catherine Mitchell, one sister; Sandra (Ronald) Zenns of Mayville, NY, her dog; Precious, and several nieces and nephews. The family would also like to acknowledge and thank her two caregivers: Terry Long of Sherman, NY, and Paula Russell of Mayville, NY.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband; Kenneth E. Faust, whom she married on August 31, 1973, a brother; James Rothra, and one niece; Cynthia Zenns.

The family will receive friends from 4-7 PM on Friday, November 18, 2022, at the Freay Funeral Home in Mayville (139 South Erie St).
