Paul Nathaniel Benware, 78 yrs, of Greenhurst NY, went the be with his Lord and Savior on the 17th of October 2022 at the UPMC Chautauqua.
He was born in Plattsburg, NY, on the 10th of December 1943 to Ira and Ruby May (Pickerin) Benware Sr. Survived by a sister Hazel Evans, Troy, NY, and a brother Ira (Emma) Benware Jr., Madrid, NY.
Paul was a 1963 graduate of the Chazy Central Rural School and was involved with multiple activities-sports, choir/musical, and offices. He was employed for 40+ years at the Gustavus Adolphus Children’s Home (Lutheran Social Services). He was a member of the Jamestown Free Methodist Church, a.k.a Joy Fellowship, where he was very active for many years.
Paul brought and organized Operation Christmas Child to the area. Active with Boy Scouts of America as a cub master, taught for the American Red Cross and volunteered with Bingo at Fluvanna Fire Dept. Along with numerous other activities in the community. He has won many awards recognitions.
Paul will be remembered as a loving and caring husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend to many. He will be missed in their hearts.
Surviving him are his wife of 56 years, Kathryn (Hall) Benware, whom he married 2nd of July 1956, and two sons: Jonathan (Tammy) Benware, Falconer, NY, and David (Laurie Tiller) Benware, Adams Center, NY. Two grandchildren, Christopher Benware, Cleveland OH, and Benjamin Benware, Mechanicville NY.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his son Daniel Benware, sisters Grace Benware and Theresa Clark, twin brothers and a grandson Matthew Benware.
Celebration of Life will be held at 11 am Saturday 22nd October 2022, at Joy Fellowship Church (Jamestown Free Methodist). The Rev. Dodi McIntyre will officiate.
