Wendy K. (Dexter) Wadsworth

RANDOLPH — Wendy K. (Dexter) Wadsworth. 67, of Randolph, town of Coldspring, passed away Saturday, Sept. 17, 2022, at home after an extended Illness. .

She was born Feb. 7, 1955, in Jamestown, N.Y., the daughter of the late Samuel M. and Joan Ruth (Schermerhorn) Dexter.

Wendy was a 1973 graduate of Randolph Central School and Jamestown Community College with a degree in Applied Sciences in Nursing. She retired from Nursing while in Venice, Fla., where she worked for the Hospice of Southwest Florida. In earlier years she had waitressed at the Randolph American Legion, where she also served with the ladies auxiliary. She had also been a nurse with the Cardiac I.C.U in Englewood, Fla.

She enjoyed reading, flower gardening, playing cards and loved spending time with her family and friends. Prior to her illness, Wendy will be remembered for her happy go lucky attitude and spontaneous smile. She was a natural social butterfly that loved being around people.

She is survived by her two daughters: Brandy Bergman and husband, Mike of Randolph, and Katie L. Wadsworth of Punta Gorda, Fla.; eight grandchildren: Tyler, Samantha, Jacob, Joseph, Alison, Jamison, Olivia and Randall; a sister, Linda (Lee) Crowther of Fort Myers, Fla.; a nephew, Chad Dexter and a niece, Liza Samples; and her dear friend and caregiver, Marta Brown of Jamestown. .

She was preceded in death by her husband of 38 years, Dale A. “Waddy” Wadsworth, who died on March 29, 2016; her parents, Sam and Joan; and her beloved brother, Randall I. Dexter in January of 1998.

A celebration of life will be held at noon, Saturday, Sept. 24, 2022, at the Old Tool Tavern (114 School St., Randolph, NY 14772), with a dinner to follow. As per her wishes, visitation will not be observed. Inurnment will be in the East Randolph Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials if desired may be sent to either the Missionary Meals, Randolph Seventh Day Adventist Church, Washington Street, Randolph, NY 14772 or to the Mental Health Association of Chautauqua County.
