Andrew ‘‘Andy’’ Cobb

Andrew ‘‘Andy’’ Cobb

Andrew ”Andy” Cobb, 37, of Pittsburgh, Pa., died on July 18, 2022 in the VA Hospital of Pittsburgh from complications of a long struggle with alcoholism.

He was born March 13, 1985, in Jamestown, the son of Gwendolyn Piazza.

He graduated Jamestown High School in 2003, and later received his Bachelors and MBA with honors from Carnegie Mellon University after serving in the U. S. Marine Corps in Landstuhl, Germany, with his former wife, Laura Conner.

Andrew paved the way for the first “Toys for Tots” drive in Germany, and was strongly dedicated to the Wounded Warriors Battalion. His enthusiasm for new ventures was infectious, and his knowledge of his interests were profound.

An accomplished professional after his time with the Marine Corps, Andrew worked with multiple “Big Four” companies, and was most recently a consultant with Deloitte (Washington, D.C.), and Price Waterhouse Coopers (Pittsburgh, PA). He was exceptionally intelligent, and his options were limitless. An incredible talent, his boisterous laugh and incredible singing voice will be beyond missed by those who knew him.

He is survived by his mother, Gwendolyn Piazza of Jamestown; his sister, Michelle Terry and husband, Jeff Terry of Jamestown; twin sister, Ashley Cobb of Jamestown; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his sister, Rebecca Smith, formerly of Ashville; and stepfather, Salvatore “Sam” Piazza of Jamestown.

Andrew leaves behind an 8-year-old son of South Carolina.

Andrew suffered from the seduction of alcoholism a disease that he struggled with for many years. Due to an addiction, this once bright, caring, and talented soul was taken from our lives and this earth too soon. Our family asks that you realize no one is immune to the epidemic of addiction that encumbers our culture- alcoholism can silently affect anyone-regardless of background, education, socioeconomic status, age, race, or gender.

The family requests those who wish to express sympathy to consider making a donation to the National Veteran’s Association.
