Gerald J. “Jerry” Rosage
HARTFIELD — Gerald J. “Jerry” Rosage, 64, of Hartfield, passed away on Tuesday, May 31, 2022, at UPMC Hamot Hospital in Erie, Pa.
He was born Oct. 16, 1957, in Westfield N.Y., the son of the late Gerald R. and Irene Tobias Rosage.
Jerry attended Mayville Central School. For many years, he worked in the oil and gas field for Ramco Drilling owned by Lee Tarr and Steve Pownell. Later he started his own general contracting business; Rosage Services, where he worked alongside his son, Mack. He was also a maintenance man for St. Mary of Lourdes Parish in Mayville and Bemus Point.
Jerry enjoyed working around his property, watching his cows and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He was also a Steelers fan and really enjoyed watching football games on Sunday afternoons.
He is survived by his loving wife, Wendy Hanson Rosage, whom he married on Nov.13, 1984, in Niagara Falls, N.Y.; five children: Gabriel (Danielle) Rosage of Dewy Rose, Ga., and their children: Ryan, Joslyn, Kelly, Kimberley, and Christopher, Rachael (Travis) Nowicki of Mayville, N.Y., and their children: Kilee, Emily and Victoria, Bobbie Jo Poe of Jacksonville, Ark., and her children A.J. and Joanna, Brandy (Chase) Rosage of Sherwood, Ark., and their children: Jasmine, Xyonna, Chase Jr. and Harley, and Mack (Cassie) Rosage of Dewittville, N.Y., and their children: Rylee and Xander. Six siblings: Roberta Rosage of Mayville, N.Y., Darlene (John) Harper of Dewittville, N.Y., Patricia (Marty) Whetstone of Dewittville, N.Y., Sue (Gary) Bennett of Dewittville, N.Y., Kay Colton of Westfield, N.Y., and Rita (Tim) Jacobson of Mayville, N.Y.; and around 100 nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers: Ronald and Paul Rosage; and one brother-in-law, Patrick Colton.
The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Monday June 6, 2022, at the Freay Funeral Home in Mayville (139 S. Erie St.).
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, June 7th, 2022. Father Todd Remick will be the main celebrant at St. Mary of Lourdes Church (24 E. Chautauqua St. Mayville, N.Y.). A Burial will be in the Mayville Cemetery.
Family will also accept friends and family for a luncheon at St. Mary of Lourdes Roman Catholic Church following the burial.
