Susan E. Dustin

She was born Aug. 30, 1944, in Buffalo, N.Y., a daughter of the late Arthur R. and Helen Johnson Winzell.

Susan was a graduate of the Jamestown School of Practical Nursing and was employed as a licensed practical nurse for the former WCA Hospital for over 25 years.

She will be remembered as a loving and caring mother who loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She also was a lover of all kinds of animals.

Surviving are her children: Laura (John) Knight of Jamestown, N.Y., Helen “Holly” (Tamas Chlumetzky) Gardner of Hillsboro, Ore., and James (Chandra) Gardner Jr. of Santa Cruz, Calif.; five grandchildren: Virginia (Eric) Carlberg and Julia (Travis) Olmstead, both of Jamestown, Emily (Dan) Smith of Cattaraugus, N.Y., Ethan Gardner of Portland, Ore., and Collin Gardner of Santa Cruz, Calif.; seven great-grandchildren; three stepdaughters; several step-grandchildren and step great-grandchildren; and a brother, U.S. Air Force Lt. Col. (Ret.) James (Judy) Winzell of Arizona.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her ex-husband, James Gardner, who died in 1987; and her last husband, Thomas P. Dustin who died Aug. 28, 2018.

Her funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Robert Allport-Cohoon, pastor of the Bethel Lutheran Church will officiate. Inurnment will be in the Fluvanna Cemetery

Friends will be received from 11a.m.-1 p.m., Thursday, two hours prior to the service, in the funeral home where masks must be worn.
