Carmen “Sue” Donisi
Carmen “Sue” Donisi passed away with her beloved son, Joe, and his wife at her side on Jan. 2, 2022, at UPMC Chautau-qua Hospital following a brief illness. She was 78.
Sue was born in Kingsley Township, Pa., on Oct. 7, 1943, to the late Samuel and Stella Zaffino. She attended St. Joseph’s School, and resided and worked in Warren until she met the love of her life, Joseph Donisi. After marrying Joseph on Nov. 6, 1971, they resided in Jamestown, N.Y., for the remainder of their lives. The couple became proud parents of their only child, Joe Donisi, on Dec. 4, 1977. Until becom-ing a grandmother, and then a great-grandmother, she was the proudest being a mom. Her family was the most important thing to her.
Sue was an amazing daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, godmother, and friend. To know her, was to love her. Her favorite job was to care for her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and her nieces and nephews. She loved cooking and baking, hosting parties; but more than anything, she loved being surrounded by her family and friends. She had a contagious laugh, a beautiful smile, a kind heart, and she gave the best hugs. She was a selfless soul who will be dearly missed by many.
In addition to the role she played in caring for her family, Sue was a member of Ss. Peter and Paul Roman Catholic Church, and was an Altar Rosary at Holy Apostles Parish.
Sue was proceeded in death by her husband of 48 years, Joseph Donisi in February of 2020; her parents, Samuel and Stella Zaffino; her father and mother-in-law, Vincenzo and Anna Donisi; a brother, Bruno Zaffino; three sisters: Marie Delores, Josephine Greenland and Rose Curtis; a sister-in-law, Lina Donisi (Gioachino); brothers-in-law, James Curtis and Joseph Immordino; two nephews: Keith Zaffino and Vincent Donisi; a niece, Annie Immordino; and a very special aunt, Angelina Pisano.
She is survived by her son, Joe and his wife, Becky; her two grandsons: Nathan and Joshua (Emma); her three great-grandchildren: Paisley, Junior and Mason; a broth-er, Ned Zaffino (Dottie); a brother-in-law, James Greenland (Josephine); two sisters-in-law: Betty Jo Zaffino (Bruno), and Mary Immordino; nephews: Mark Zaffino, Joe Curtis (Valerie), Jay Zaffino (Penny), Tim Zaffino, Michael Greenland (Sheri), Kevin Zaffino (Jamie), Angelo Donisi (Sally), Chuck Immordino (Stacey); nieces: Tammy Swanson (Jim), Beth Arford (Chris), Joy Ray (Tom), Joella Zaffino, Angie Giuffre (Chuck), Lillian Wilbur and their families; and many great nieces, nephews, cousins, god children and many close friends.
Visitation will be held Thursday, Jan. 6, 2022, from 4-8 p.m., at Riccardi’s Hubert Funeral Home.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday Jan. 7, 2022, 1 p.m. at Ss. Peter and Paul Roman Catholic Church. Burial to follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
