Thomas J. Woodruff

Thomas J. Woodruff, 51, of Lakewood, N.Y., passed away from Covid-19 complications on Nov. 24, 2021, with his devoted wife, Tammy, at his side.

He was born on Sept. 30, 1970, in Jamestown, N.Y., the son of Dolores and William Newark.

Thomas grew up in Jamestown, N.Y.. and graduated from Jamestown High School in 1989 and later graduated from Jamestown Community College.

Tom was known for the passion he had for his family and his country, serving in the U.S. Army Reserves from 1989-97. Tom was the proud founder and owner of Wood-N-Grounds, a landscaping, firewood, snowplowing, and excavating services business located in Lakewood, N.Y. He worked alongside his son, Adam Woodruff, who survives him. Tom also worked at Jamestown BPU in the wastewater division and previously worked at Maplevale and Sysco Foods.

Tom was an avid baseball fan of the St. Louis Cardinals. He was a caring father to six children and a thoughtful brother to three siblings. Tom’s family will remember him as a hard-working man with a great sense of humor, often filling the room with laughter.

Tom is preceded in death by father, William Newark.

Besides his wife ,Tammy (Donner) Woodruff and mother, Dolores Newark, he is survived by three siblings: Donna Wiltse of Jamestown, N.Y., Larry Williams of Falconer, N.Y., and Lynn Tanner (DeWayne) of Frewsburg, N.Y. He is also survived by his many children: Samantha Parton of Toledo, Ohio, Allison (David) Digiralamo of Leominster, Mass., Amber Woodruff, of Jamestown, N.Y., Cassie Cramer, of Erie, Pa., Brielle (Cullen) Farver of Lakewood, N.Y., and Adam Woodruff of Lakewood, N.Y.; as well as nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his beloved dogs: Louis and Paisley. Tom was a kind and loving husband to Tammy (Donner) Woodruff, whom he married Dec. 26, 2004. He will be loved and missed by all.

A private service will be held at a later date, summer 2022.
