STEDMAN — Julie B. Nickerson, 64, of Stedman, died surrounded by family on Saturday, Dec. 25, at Saint Vincent hospital in Erie, Pa.
She was born Jan. 19, in Westfield. Daughter of the late Eldon E. Auge and the late Carol Auge Breads.
Julie attended Chautauqua, Mayville and Sherman schools. After her two sons were born, she went to Jamestown Community College, where she earned a college degree. She also completed truck driving school and was employed as a truck driver with her husband having travelled across country.
She held other jobs as lifeguard and soccer coach at Chautauqua school, preschool teacher at Hurlbut Church Chautauqua, secretary for Dr. Berke medical office in Mayville and was a steward aboard the Sea Lion ship on Chautauqua Lake.
Julie was a very active member in the Church of Jesus Christ Latterday Saints also 7th Day Adventist Church of Jamestown.
She was a homemaker, animal lover and gardener. Julie loved being a grandmother. She also cared for her mother in her declining years.
She is survived by her husband of 23 years, Timothy E. Nickerson of Stedman. Tim often stated he knew he was going to marry Julie right after their first date.
Julie is survived by son, Jerry E. Rooney, his wife, Erynne and their children: Jacob, Alivia and Conner of Florida; son, Jessie D. Rooney, his wife, Candice and their children Logan, Emma, Adeline and Declan of Utah; a stepson, Desilver J. Nickerson, his wife, Allison and their children: Riley, Southern, Colton and Lane; stepdaughter, Karen Woods, husband, Mark and their children: Emily, Katelynn and Logan of Florida. Her surviving siblings are: David Auge of Jamestown, Darwyn Auge, Gilbert Auge of Alabama and Dan Auge also of Alabama; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her only sister, Stephanie Auge.
Calling hours will be held from 6-8 p.m., on Thursday, Dec. 30, 2021 and 10 a.m. to noon on Friday, Dec, 31, at Freay Funeral Home in Mayville (139 S. Erie St). The Funeral will be held at noon on Friday, Dec. 31, 2021, at the funeral home. Burial will be in the North Harmony Cemetery.
