John A. Lindsay Jr.
John A. Lindsay Jr., 66, of South Pearl Street., Frewsburg, passed away Monday (Dec. 20, 2021) at UPMC Chautauqua
He was born April 24, 1955, in Jamestown, the son of John “Jack” and Shirley Clapper Lindsay.
John had been employed at Frantz and Russell and Jamestown Container.
He was a member of the Busti Men’s Club and also a member of the Frewsburg Fire Co. for 28 years, where he was currently assistant chief and was past chief.
John was a softball pitcher and enjoyed golfing, bowling and racing at Stateline Speedway.
He enjoyed tinkering on many wood projects but most importantly he loved spending time with his grandchildren who were his pride and joy.
John is survived by his wife, Patricia Decker Lindsay, whom he married April 10, 1981; two children: John (Trista) Lindsay of Frewsburg and Heather (Chris) Smith of Jamestown. He was a proud and special papa to Bentley, Cameron and Gavin Smith and Ava Lindsay. He is also survived by two brothers: Jay Lindsay and Jan Lindsay of Florida; three sisters: Peggy (Gary) McLaughlin of Ohio, Linda McKarski and Patty (Ed) Gahagan of Florida; sister-in-law, Nancy (Hart) Jordan of Busti; two brothers-in-law: Kirk Decker of Busti and Bill Decker of N. Truro, Mass.
He was predeceased by his parents.
The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in the Peterson Funeral Home., Frewsburg.
Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Frewsburg.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home.
Masks will be required.
