Shirley Ann (Hazzard) McIntyre

Shirley Ann (Hazzard) McIntyre, 84, of Ashville, N.Y., (formerly of Riverside Road, Busti), entered the loving arms of her Savior on Monday, Nov. 22, 2021, while residing at her daughter’s home.

She was born July 27, 1937, the daughter of Harold and Dorothy (Seely) Hazzard. She graduated from Jamestown High School in 1954. She did secretarial work in a law office for a short time, but then met a handsome farmer while roller-skating. They were wed on August 5, 1955 and had 62 years of marriage together. She flourished as a farmer’s wife, actively helping with everyday chores and responsibilities.

Shirley was a warm and loving parent, yet was not afraid to guide and discipline as needed. She was extraordinarily supportive of her children and grandchildren, attending many of their sporting, musical and other events. She always looked forward to listening to their life adventures.

Shirley loved to cook, bake, can, and freeze, often sharing her baked goods and treats with neighbors, family and friends. Her pies were always in demand, especially for 20 plus years at her daughter and son-in-law’s produce farm. She also loved being outside. gardening, mowing, yardwork, and painting were favorite pastimes. On the farm, she was a great partner to her husband because of her hard work, both inside and outside!

Shirley was a person of great faith; and she loved to share her love of the Lord through sharing her beloved gospel music. Country gospel was always heard throughout her home, and she was especially pleased when her own kids and then grandchildren played music together. She faithfully prayed for each of her family members, and all knew of her great love for them.

Shirley is survived by four children: Joyce (Temple) Jarrell of Mebane, N.C., Dale (Susan) McIntyre of Mercer, Pa., Nancy (Kevin) Anderson of Kiantone, N.Y., and Dawn (David) Williams of Ashville, N.Y. She loved being grandma to Russell, Joshua (Kendra), and Reuben Jarrell, Katie (Frank) White, Rebecca McIntyre, Molly and Emma Anderson, Sadie (Ryan) Rodes, Peter (Rachel) Williams, Mary (John) Mayr and Henry Williams. She was great-grandma to Kaleigha and Harmony White, Asher Jarrell, Melanie Mayr and Barnabas Rodes. She also is survived by her beloved sister and best friend, Beverly Wiltsie of Frewsburg, N.Y.; and brother, Norman (Sylvia) Hazzard of Columbia, Md. And aunt to many, many nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Lewis; and her sister, Audrey (Walter) Braley.

Family will receive friends from 10:30 to 11:45a.m. prior to the funeral celebration service of Shirley’s life at noon Friday (Nov. 26, 2021) at the Koinonia Christian Fellowship, Stillwater.

Burial will be in Busti Cemetery.
