J. Richard Reed

J. Richard Reed, 88, of Falconer went peacefully to meet his Lord with his beloved wife and family by his side on Monday (June 28, 2021), in his home.

A lifelong area resident he was born January 25, 1933 in Jamestown, the son of the late J. Burdette and Doris Dickison Reed.

Dick was a graduate of Falconer High School and was a veteran of the Korean War serving in the U.S. Navy from 1952 to 1956.

In earlier years Dick was employed by the Village of Falconer Police Department and Falconer Plate Glass. Prior to retirement he was employed by MRC-SKF and Falconer Central School.

Dick was a member of the Falconer Kiwanis Club, Lakewood Rod & Gun Club and Herman Kent Post 777, American Legion. He enjoyed time with his family, and antique cars of which he previously owned a 1935 Packard.

Dick and Karen enjoyed traveling to many places together. Some of their favor-ite memories include cruises, bus tours, and a special life fulfilling dream of Dicks to visit the Panama Canal.

Surviving is his wife Karen M. Ahlgren Young Reed whom he married May 31, 2008 in Russell, PA; four children: J. Richard (Shari) Reed Jr. of Dewittville, NY, Timothy C. (Christine) Reed of Eden, NY, Carol R. Salapek of Raleigh, NC, Charles Reed of Falconer; three step children: Celeste (James) Marsh, Rebecca (Lonny) Lee, Jeffrey (Jessica) Young; nine grandchildren: Joshua (Angi) Reed, Daniel (Beth) Reed, Robert Reed, Michael (Sarah) Reed, Kathleen (Tom) Loescher, Bethany Salapek, Brenna (Justin) Nelson, Brittney (Matt) Sieberg, Angela (Dalton) Crossley; nine step grandchildren: Kara (Pete) Wakefield, Aaron (Karley) Liberati, Justin P. Young, Courtney Turkett, Kaylee Marsh, Gregory Marsh, Brett (Kim) Marsh, Ryan Os-bourne, Michael Wetterow; seven great grandchildren and six step great grandchildren.

Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife Marjorie Coyne Reed whom he married May 8, 1954, who died April 23, 2004.

The funeral will be Sa-turday at 11:00 a.m. in the Falconer Funeral Home. Rev. Phil Roushey pastor of Zion Lutheran Church in Frewsburg will officiate. Burial will be in Pine Hill Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Friday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the funeral home.
