With profound sadness we announce the passing of Patricia, our loving and devoted mother, and friend to all whose lives she touched, on March 21, 2021. She left us while sleeping peacefully at her son’s and daughter in law’s home, surrounded by loving family in her 83rd year.
Patricia Wisniewski Johnson was born September 22, 1937 in Dunkirk, N.Y. and was preceded in death by her husband James Johnson of 65 years earlier this year. We believe a broken heart to be the cause of death. Pat as she preferred to be called was a beautiful soul on the inside and had a beautiful appearance on the outside. She was a loving, generous, kind and funny mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend. There aren’t awards or accolades given for the role she played in life, but there should be and she would claim it’s highest honor. She raised 5 children and helped raise several others. Being a mother was a job she loved and excelled at. She had many odd jobs when the children were young to supplement a farmer’s income in any way she could. There were many loving and generous friends that knew Pat would be an excellent asset to their company or farm, so it was easy to find an income when needed. She worked the grape fields, orchards, clerked at the local store or any other odd job, where she could take at least a few of those children with her. She was always all in on whatever extra job was needed while Jim coached adolescent sports. Whether that be score keeper, taxi driver, uniform washer, or organizer to raise funds for the uniforms themselves. She loved every child as her own child. She loved springtime and sunshine, all things seafood, fruit and sweet desserts. She was an amazing cook and baker. She was the beloved mother of Randall (Cheryl) Johnson, Donna (Doug) Canfield, Michelle (Tom) Zappala, Jac (Rick) McCracken and Scott (Jody) Johnson. Proud Grandmother of Chynna Johnson; Jerimiah (Tricia) Dubois and Brandon (Tabitha) Dubois; Shannon (Al) Shaw, Lydia (Jim) Kurt and Nathaniel (Samantha) Zappala; Jamie (Kevin) Rigsby; Preslie, Mackenzie, and Jonathan Johnson and Ian and Evan Ward; 11 Great Grandchildren; Sister to James (Theresa) Bickhart and Christine (Ted) Lesso. Pat was also preceded in death by her parents Bernard Wisniewski and Genevieve Bickhart, her oldest son Randall Johnson, and her infant son Stacy Johnson. A celebration of life for Pat will be held in late spring-for all to share at Kelly Hill Cemetery when her urn is placed with her beloved husbands remains.
