Frederick “Fred” Zarczynski

Frederick “Fred” Zarczynski, age 62, of Cassadaga passed away on Feb. 8, 2021, at home. He was born May 12, 1958, to the late Feliks and late Eleanore (Szumczyk) and was a stepson to Peter Turski of Poland.

Fred married the former Kathleen “Kathy” Delaney on Oct. 22, 1988. Together they raised two sons, Adam and Brett (Megan Stang).

Fred grew up in Cheektowaga and was a 1976 graduate of John F. Kennedy High School. He moved to Cassadaga in 1988 with Kathy and resided there for more than 32 years. Fred was a truck driver for many years with Intermodal Xpress (IMX), where he met his wife in 1986. He later became a proud Teamsters member, working for Preston Trucking and YRC Worldwide. He briefly worked at the Post Office in Jamestown before returning to YRC. Fred was most recently employed at Serta Simmons Bedding in Falconer. He made many friends at each place he worked thanks to his easygoing nature, big heart, and willingness to help any way he could.

Fred was a devoted family man and could always be found supporting his sons in their various sports and school activities. Fred’s proudest moments were watching his sons grow into wonderful young men. Fred loved living near Cassadaga Lakes where he spent many days boating and fishing. He was a lifelong fan of the Buffalo Bills, Sabres, Bandits, and San Francisco Giants. He was also a loyal supporter of Niagara University athletics. He was a longtime attendee of the former Immaculate Conception parish in Cassadaga and later St. Anthony and St. Joseph parishes of Fredonia.

Fred is survived by a brother, Feliks, of Jacksonville, FL and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, in-laws, and countless friends. Those who had the good fortune of knowing him will miss him dearly.

Fred was a proud body donor to the University at Buffalo Anatomical Gift Program in hopes he could help someone become a doctor. In keeping with his wishes there will be no visitation at this time. There will be a funeral Mass and a Celebration of Life at a later date.

The family wishes to thank Chautauqua Hospice & Palliative Care for the wonderful support. The family would also like to thank those who cared for Fred over the past year at Heritage Green. Memorials can be made to Cassadaga Volunteer Fire Department or Chautauqua County Hospice & Palliative Care.
