Cynthia A. Powell
Cynthia A. Powell, 80, of Jamestown, passed away at 5 a.m., Saturday, July 13, 2019, in her home following a courageous battle with cancer , surrounded by her family.
A lifelong area resident, she was born July 25, 1938, in Jamestown, N.Y., a daughter of the late Milton F. and Anna V. Reeves McKune.
She was a graduate of Jamestown High School and before her retirement was employed by the James Prendergast Free Library for many years. In later years, she had worked for the Hallmark Store and for the Christopher and Banks Store in Chautauqua Mall.
Cindy was a communicant of St. James Catholic Church and was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America. She was also a member of the Allen Park Women’s Club and the Lakewood Rod & Gun Club.
She will be remembered as a very loving and caring wife, mother and grandma who loved spending time with her family, especially her children and grandchildren and also her dog, “Max”.
Surviving are her husband of 48 years, Leonard W. Powell, whom she married Dec. 12, 1970; her six daughters; Dawn (Carl) Calimeri of Jamestown, Denise (Chris) Anderson of Jamestown, April (Todd) Berry of Greensboro, N.C., Debra Pauley of Arvada, Colo., Darlene (Richard) Palfrey of Bon Air, Ga., Michelle (Robert) Henderson of Poquoson, Va.; 19 grandchildren; Anthony Calimeri, Alicia Brandi, Andrea Badgett, Nicole Torres, Callie Valko, Jason Dahlgren, Jennifer Carpenter, Ashley Tompkins, Robert Gassman, Jessica Gassman, Jennica Anderson, Amanda VanArsdale, Courtney Uhlig, Elisa Warner, Julia Berry, Andrea Berry, Austin Anderson, Hunter Henderson and Brooke Henderson; 20 great-grandchildren; a brother, David McKune of Daisy, Tenn; and her cousin; Sister Jean Walburt of Erie, Pa., who was like a sister to Cindy.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved son, J. Daniel Pauley, who passed away on July 22, 2004; and a brother, Wayne McKune.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m., Wednesday in St. James Catholic Church. The Rev. Darrell G. Duffy, pastor will be celebrant. Burial will be in the Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
Friends will be received from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., Tuesday in the Lind Funeral Home, where a Christian Wake Service will be led at 8:45 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home.
