Jack R. Swan
Jack R. Swan, 74, formerly of Jamestown, N.Y., passed away Oct. 12, 2017, in Largo, Fla., following a brief illness. He relocated to Florida in 2007 with his wife, the former Doris Swanson Swan, who passed away on April 15, 2017.
He was born Oct. 9, 1943, in Jamestown, N.Y., a son of the late James R. Swan and the late Jane Smith Swan Lawrence.
Jack was a 1961 graduate of the former Chautauqua Central School and following his graduation enlisted in the U.S. Air Force serving from Sept. 19, 1961, to June 18, 1965, stationed in Turkey.
Mr. Swan was previously employed by the former Chautauqua Hardware Corporation. He began his career in the accounting department and continued working his way up to company president until they closed operations in Jamestown.
Following his retirement he was an avid golfer belonging to and working art several golf courses in Jamestown and Florida.
Surviving are a daughter, Pamela Penhollow of Gerry, N.Y., four grandchildren; two sisters: Suzanne Swan Bertram of CA, Cynthia Hedman of Homer, N.Y., as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Besides his parents and his wife Doris, he was preceded in death by his twin sister, Jill Peters; a sister, Sandra Foster; and a son, Timothy Scott Swan.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 4, 2018, in the Lind Funeral Home. Friends will be received from 1-3 p.m. Saturday prior to the service.
