Susan Mae Swanson
Susan Mae Swanson, 80, living her last year in Uniontown, Ohio, passed away at Cleveland Clinic on Feb. 19, 2018, after battling cancer on and off since 2011, with her family by her side.
Susan was born July 25, 1937, in Jamestown, N.Y., to the late Albert and Adelia (Anderson) Ellison. She was a graduate of Jamestown High School class of 1955.
Our beloved mother, grandmother, aunt and friend is now at home with the Lord, and we are grateful she is no longer suffering. She grew tired and lost the will to live in her later years, but we know that she is now happy and at rest. She can paint beautiful pictures and swim with dolphins again. We have peace knowing that her big beautiful blue eyes will be watching down on us all, letting us know she is okay.
She is now reunited with her two lifelong best friends: Joanne and Marcia, whom all passed away within the last 10 months. She was a devoted Lutheran, homemaker and proud of her Swedish heritage. In the mid 70s she pursued her career at Banker’s Trust, where she started as a teller and advanced quickly because of her intelligence and great personality. She was dedicated to her children, always encouraging and supporting them through school, sports and life. She moved to St. Pete Beach in 1983 with her daughter, Lauren where she spent the next 40 plus years living in Florida. She loved her Florida lifestyle and enjoyed time at the beach where she lived on a yacht for five years with her late friend, Harrington Ricker.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Carl Ellison; and grandson Sven Stephen Swanson.
Sue is survived by her son, Stephen (Jo-Hanna) Swanson and granddaughter, Ingrid of Lake George, N.Y.; her son Barry (Angel) Swanson, grandchildren: Kara Mae and Erik and great-grand- daughter, Vienna Mae Rubbo of Wilmington, Del.; her daughter, Lauren (Brian) Cecil and grandchildren: Morgan and Connor of St. Cloud Fla.; and her son, Robert (Wendy) Swanson and grandchildren: Jessica, Casey and Ollie of Uniontown, Ohio. Sue is also survived by her niece, Cindy Ellison of Siesta Key, Fla.; and nephew, Greg Ellison of Las Vegas, Nev.
Sue’s cremains will be buried at Sunset Hill Cemetery in the spring.
