Robert R. Lundgren, 90, of 4390 Harris Hill Road, Falconer, N.Y., passed away at 9:28 p.m., Monday, Aug. 7, 2017, in Heritage Green Rehab and Skilled Nursing Facility.
An area resident for most of his life, he was born Feb. 4, 1927, in Seattle, Wash., a son of the late Albert R. and Pearl Salisbury Lundgren.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving from Feb. 5, 1945 to July 19, 1946, during World War II. During his tour of duty, he received the American Theater Medal, the World War II Victory Medal and the Asiatic Pacific Theater Medal.
Before his retirement he was a paint sprayer for the Jamestown Metal Products where he worked for 24 years.
Bob was a member of the War Vets Recreation Club, the Henry Mosher Post 638 American Legion, Falconer, the John W. Tiffany Post 53 Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Jamestown Moose Lodge. He was also an avid hunter and fisherman and loved spending time outdoors.
Surviving are two daughters: Ann (Clifford) Powers and Kay (Andrew) Robinson, both of Lakewood, N.Y.; two sons: Robert (Brenda) Lundgren of Frewsburg, N.Y., andJerry (Devonne) Lundgren of Jamestown, N.Y.: nine grandchildren: Cindy Connolly of Forestville, N.Y., Marcy Miller of Sinclairville, N.Y., Shelly Hopkins of Middletown, Del., Andrew Robinson, Jr. of Lakewood, Amy Schumacher of Mt. Prospect, Ill., Ryan Lundgren of Falconer, N.Y., Matthew Lundgren of Carthage, N.Y., Craig Lundgren of Norfolk, Va., and Julie Lundgren of Arlington, Va.: 19 great- grandchildren; a brother, Albert Lundgren Jr. of Canyon City, Colo.; and a sister, Elsie Ringer of Jamestown.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, the former Lucille E. Olmstead Lundgren, whom he married Oct. 3, 1948, and who died July 18, 2017; a great- granddaughter, Savannah Hopkins; and an infant sister, Arvella Lundgren.
Friends will be received from 6-8 p.m. Friday in the Lind Funeral Home, where military honors will be conducted by the Jamestown Vietnam Veterans Association, Chapter 865 at 8 p.m. A celebration of life service for Robert will be held at a later date.
Burial will be in the Maple Grove Cemetery, Gerry, N.Y.
