Mayville Senior Citizens Meet For Harvest Dinner

MAYVILLE – The Mayville Senior Citizens met recently for a turkey dinner prepared by members of the Christian and Missionary Alliance Church in Dewittville.

At the organization’s Dec. 5 meeting, members will have a ham dinner prepared by Darlene Harper. John Savage will be playing his guitar and singing Christnas songs. Members will also swear in new officers for the 2025 year: Robin Carr, president; Linda Anderson, first vice president; Darlene Harper, second vice president; Darlene Barney, secretary; Janet Loomis, assistant secretary; Kathy Sukalac, treasurer; and Fran Miller, assistant treasurer..

Committee chairs will be: Dianne Goodrich, devotions; Linda Anderson, goodwill; Becky Dalziel, trips; Bill Tornstrom, programs; Bonnie J. Johnson, kitchen committee; Robin Carr, senior council; and Darlene Barney and Janet Loomis, audit.

Linda Anderson, Goodwill chairperson, made a cake and the group sang happy birthday for 11 members with birthdays in November: Fred Himes, Charles Patten, Linda Martin, Mary Ann Bitner, Betty Lou Cheney, Ernest Farver, Diane Petrucci, Gwen Thorp, John Weise, Richard Westpfahl, and David Thorp.

Goodrich, read the National Prayer by Thomas Jefferson and then led the group in the Pledge of Allegiance.

A motion was made by Darlene Harper and seconded by Priscilla Farver to accept the secretary’s report as given, carried. A schedule of 2025 meeting dates were emailed to members and hard copies were also handed out at the meeting. More will be available on Dec. 5.

Sukalac gave the treasurer’s report. Goodrich agreed to drop off our bag of donations for the Seniors for Santa at the Baptist Church. Margie Weise agreed to drop off donations to the Food Bank.

Nine people won door prizes: Ruth Gilbert, Betty Lou Cheney, Sharon Frudd, Kathie Sukalac, Chris Kroll, David Thorp, Leah Renswick, Karen Hurlburt; and Linda Martin. Louise Richir won the lottery.
