Below are the results of contested county, town and village elections in Chautauqua County. There were no city races.

COUNTYWIDE

For Family Court Judge, Peter Johnson defeated Sally Jaroszynski. Johnson ran on the Republican and Conservative lines, while Jaroszynski ran on the Working Families lines. Unofficial vote totals show Johnson received nearly 34,000 votes while Jaroszynski received about 11,100 votes. Current Family Court Judge Jeffrey A. Piazza is retiring at the end of the year.

TOWN ELECTIONS

Of the 27 towns in Chautauqua County, 18 of them had town elections this fall, three of which were contested and one had a local proposition.

ELLINGTON – Residents approved a townwide proposition to allow the town of Ellington to be authorized to levy and collect an annual tax on $65,000, separate from the town’s annual budget, for the Ellington Farman Library. Unofficial results show the proposition passed 360-341.

HANOVER – Martin Buchnowski lost to Gary Cerne for town justice. Buchnowski ran on the Democratic line, while Cerne ran on the Republican line.

KIANTONE – Richard Hooks defeated Jeffrey Peterson for council member vacancy. Hooks ran on the Republican line while Peterson ran on the Democratic line.

POMFRET – David Bird lost to Michael Lee for council member vacancy. Bird ran on the Republican and Conservative lines, while Lee ran on the Democratic and Working Families lines.

VILLAGES

Of the 12 villages in Chautauqua County, six had village elections this fall, two which were contested.

BROCTON – Drew Ransom and Brandy Smith were both elected trustee, while Barbara Colt lost. Colt ran on the Democratic line, while Ransom and Smith both ran on the Republican line.

SILVER CREEK – Dwane Haskins and William Barnes were both elected trustee while James Castiglia and Benjamin Lewis lost. Castiglia and Lewis both ran on the Democratic line, while Haskins and Barnes both ran on the Republican line.
