FREWSBURG — A spaghetti dinner benefit is set for Sunday for a Jamestown teacher who is battling cancer.

Lisa Rhinehart, a Frewsburg graduate who taught in the Jamestown Public Schools District for around 15 years before having to go on disability, was diagnosed with stage three colon cancer in October. Rhinehart is a mother of two and also went to college for special education.

One of the event organizers, Heather Heald, said the benefit is to help with the Rhinehart family’s financial strain.

“Lisa’s doctors are at Cleveland Clinic so she has had to go back and forth and sometimes stay in Cleveland for medical appointments,” Heald said. “So this benefit is to help with the need for money for food, medication and travel.”

The Lisa Rhinehart Spaghetti Dinner Benefit is set for March 17 at the Frewsburg Fire Department’s Blue Building, 25 Hazzard Street. The dinner begins at 4 p.m. and goes until 7 p.m., with live music from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. and a basket raffle at 6 p.m. The dinner is a fifteen dollar donation and beer and drink tickets will also be available.

Three bands will be playing throughout the event. Kris Meekins will be playing from 4 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., Akoostikly Challenged from 4:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. and Hallow Society from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. There will be over 90 baskets available for the basket raffle, and a bake sale will also be happening throughout.

“People should expect good food, good music, a good time with friends and family and an overall good time,” Heald said.

While there is no amount set that they would like to collect from the benefit, Heald said that everything will go towards Rhinehart and her husband Paul to help with their finances.

“They are under a lot of stress financially and basically we want this to help relax their finances and make sure everything is covered,” Heald said.

Tickets for the spaghetti dinner are still available and can be purchased at the door. Heald welcomed anyone to come out and support Rhinehart and her family.
