LaMancuso Takes Oath Of Office As City Court Judge
John I. LaMancuso was sworn in as Jamestown City Court Judge in a private ceremony in City Court on New Year’s Eve. His father, outgoing City Court Judge John L. LaMancuso, administered the oath of office.
The new judge’s son, Johnny F. LaMancuso, held the family Bible, in place of Judge LaMancuso’s wife, Gillian, who was ill.
LaMancuso’s four children; his mother, Kathleen LaMancuso; his in-laws, Guy and Ellen Ditonto; and City Court Judge George Panebianco witnessed the oath of office.
LaMancuso begins his 10-year term on the heels of his father’s 30 years of service as City Court judge.
“To be sworn in by my dad, with my son holding the Bible, was a dream come true,” he said. “My dad inspired me to pursue this profession, and I spent many years with my dad in this building and in this courtroom. It has always been a special place for our family.”
“I would like to thank my wife, Gillian, my mom and dad, my kids, my extended family, and my friends for their unwavering support,” LaMancuso added. “None of this would have been possible without all of them.”
LaMancuso previously served as the chairman of the law firm of Lewis & Lewis, P.C., as attorney for the village of Lakewood, and as chairman of the Jamestown Planning Commission. He was elected City Court Judge on Nov. 7.
“I would like to thank the people of the City of Jamestown for believing in me and entrusting me with this office,” he said. “I am grateful for this opportunity. I look forward to getting to work.”
