Westfield Traffic Stop Leads To Narcotics Discovery

WESTFIELD — A traffic stop Friday led to a seizure of narcotics and the arrest of three individuals in the village.
Chautauqua County Sheriff’s narcotics investigator observed Mark C. Baker, 35, of Westfield, who is known to have a felony arrest warrant for the sale and possession of narcotics, enter a vehicle at a business on Main Street. Westfield Police Department assisted and stopped the vehicle on Academy Street. Baker fled from the vehicle and was detained a short distance from the traffic stop.
Also in the vehicle were Brandon Echevarria, 31, of Cassadaga and Christopher Harding, 39, of Stockton. A record check revealed Echevarria had an arrest warrant for petit larceny and Harding had a suspended driver’s license.
A search of the vehicle and the arrested persons led the seizure of 16.48 grams of fentanyl, 13.65 grams of methamphetamine, 2 vials of testosterone, 14 amphetamine pills, a quantity of Clonazepam pills, 1 gram of ketamine, drug paraphernalia for the distribution of narcotics and $85. Harding was charged with third-degree and fourth-degree and two counts of seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, aggravated unlicensed operation and second-degree criminally using drug paraphernalia. Baker was charged with third-, fourth-, fifth- and seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and resisting arrest. All three were transported to the Chautauqua County Jail for the centralized arraignment program.
