Jamestown Sign Installed On North Main Street
A sign by the Rotary Club of Jamestown that was part of its centennial project has recently been installed on North Main Street. The large sign has been a few years in the making and includes steel trusses that used to be part of a bridge and bricks from a city street. Last year, the Rotary Club said it was paying at least $10,000 toward the project while additional funds were being sought. The sign, which spells out the city’s name in large letters, greets southbound motorists entering from Route 60. It’s located near another sign that promotes Jamestown as the birthplace of Lucille Ball and Roger Tory Peterson as well as the home of Robert H. Jackson and 10,000 Maniacs. The Rotary Club of Jamestown celebrated its 100th anniversary in 2020.
