BBF Releases Highest SAT Scores For Upstate NY
Buffalo Business First recently released a ranking report on the top SAT scores for Upstate New York school districts.
A few local districts earned top marks on the exam, according to the report.
The SAT is a college entrance exam that tests students on three areas: critical reading, math and writing. Each section is graded on a scale from 200 to 800 points, and the maximum combined score on the exam is 2,400.
The list ranks the 414 districts in Upstate New York.
Pine Valley Central School District took the SAT exams by storm at No. 7 on the Buffalo Business First list of highest Upstate SAT scores.
The combined SAT score for the district for 2015 was 1,693. The average critical reading score was 574, the average math score was 581 and the average writing score was 538.
Bemus Point Central School District was also a heavy-hitter in 2015 with a combined SAT score of 1,681. The district was ranked No. 11 on the list by Buffalo Business First. The average critical reading score for the district was 558, the average math score was 592 and the average writing score was 531.
Chautauqua Lake Central School District came in at No. 43 in the race for the best SAT scores with a combined SAT score for 2015 of 1,599. The average critical reading score for the school district was 542, the average score for math was 547 and the average score for writing was 510.
Southwestern Central School District ranked No. 57 on the list with a 1,585 combined score, a critical reading average score of 535, a math average score of 542 and a writing average score of 512.
Fredonia Central School District earned a rank of No. 75 with a combined score of 1,566, a critical reading average score of 515, a math average score of 539 and a writing average score of 512.
Randolph Central School District placed at No. 83 with a combined score of 1,558, a critical reading average score of 526, a math average score of 530 and a writing average score of 496.
Frewsburg Central School District earned the rank of No. 114 with a combined score of 1,544, a critical reading average score of 524, a math average score of 517 and a writing average score of 503.
At No. 174, Falconer Central School District had a combined score of 1,516, an average critical reading score of 504, a math average score of 523 and an average writing score of 489.
Panama Central School District and Westfield Academy and Central School tied for No. 250 with combined scores of 1,473. Panama had an average critical reading score of 505, a math average score of 483 and a writing average score of 485. Westfield Academy had a critical reading average score of 488, a math average score of 502 and a writing average score of 483.
Jamestown Public Schools District came in at No. 262 with a combined score of 1,469. The district had an average critical reading score of 496, a math average score of 505 and a writing average score of 468.
Gowanda Central School District earned the rank of No. 272 with a combined score of 1,464. The district had an average critical reading score of 496, a math average score of 499 and an average writing score of 469.
At No. 286, Sherman Central School had a combined score of 1,457 with an average critical reading score of 488, an average math score of 499 and an average writing score of 470.
Forestville Central School District and Silver Creek Central School District earned the rank of No. 289 with a combined score of 1,456. Forestville had an average critical reading score of 486, an average math score of 499 and an average writing score of 490, while Silver Creek had an average critical reading score of 498, a math average score of 502 and an average writing score of 456.
Cattaraugus-Little Valley Central School District had a combined score of 1,454 which earned them a spot at No. 292. Cattaraugus-Little Valley had an average critical reading score of 501, a math average score of 491 and a writing average score of 462.
Brocton Central School District came in at No. 361 on the list with a combined score of 1,410. The district had an average critical reading score of 492, a math average of 467 and a writing average score of 451.
Cassadaga Valley Central School District had a combined score of 1,403 which landed the district a spot at No. 369. The district had an average critical reading score of 471, a math average score of 471 and an average writing score of 461.
Dunkirk City School District came in at No. 393 with a combined score of 1,344, an average critical reading score of 458, a math average score of 448 and a writing average score of 438.
Salamanca City Central School District came in at No. 408 with a combined score of 1,268. The district had a critical reading score of 429, an average math score of 431 and an average writing score of 408.
