Jamestown Man Charged After Stealing Taxi Cab
A Jamestown man was charged after assaulting a taxi driver and stealing her taxi cab at 1:58 a.m. Friday.
Jamestown police officers responded to the area near Maple Street and Everett Avenue after receiving a report of a man who assaulted a taxi driver and discovered the man had stolen the taxi and left the scene. Police found the taxi and pulled it over on Camp Street, near the Jamestown city line. They found Victor Rosa Jr., 40, of Jamestown, driving the taxi while intoxicated and with a revoked driver’s license.
Police report the woman was driving the taxi when Rosa grabbed the taxi driver by the hair, shoving her into the seat and holding her down. He then stole the taxi once the taxi operator left the cab.
Rosa was charged with second-degree robbery, second-degree reckless endangerment, criminal obstruction of breathing or blood circulation, third-degree unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, second-degree unlawful imprisonment, driving while intoxicated and first-degree aggravated unlicensed operation. He was taken to the Jamestown City Jail until he can be arraigned.
