GOWANDA POLICE DEPARTMENT

— GOWANDA — Gowanda Police apprehended a reckless driver that nearly struck a patrol vehicle on Jan. 11.

Timothy M. Brady, 61, was observed by Gowanda Police at approximately 10:27 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 11, when he nearly struck a Gowanda Police vehicle exiting a driveway on Buffalo Street in Gowanda. Brady then pulled into the McDonald’s parking lot and failed to stop when prompted by Gowanda Police.

Brady continued north onto Buffalo Street. He failed to stop at a stop sign at Taylor Hollow Road, then drove into the left lane of Taylor Hollow Road and still failed to stop. He eventually pulled into a driveway on Taylor Hollow Road and was boxed in by Gowanda Police.

Upon finally stopping, Gowanda Police say Brady exhibited signs of intoxication and failed multiple sobriety tests. Brady refused a chemical breath test.

During a computer check, it was revealed that Brady’s license had expired in 2021. His license was also previously suspended for two prior Driving While Intoxicated (DWI) convictions. The computer check also revealed two active warrants for Brady’s arrest, issued by the Monroe County Court.

Brady was arrested on several charges, including a felony charge of Driving While Intoxicated; felony aggravated unlicensed operation in the first degree; unlicensed operation; unlawfully fleeing a police officer in the third degree; obstructing governmental administration in the second degree; failure to yield the right of way entering a roadway; failure to turn a signal; a stop sign violation; speed in zone; speed not reasonable and prudent; and reckless operation.

Brady was arraigned in the Town of Collins Court and remanded to the Erie County Holding Center.

WESTFIELD POLICE DEPARTMENT

— WESTFIELD — A domestic dispute at a home on a residential street in the heart of Westfield led to charges for two adults.

In the early hours of Saturday, the Westfield Police Department and the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office responded to a domestic dispute at approximately 4 a.m. on Union Street in Westfield. It was discovered that Samuel J. Cettell, 45, allegedly kicked in multiple doors within the residence. Significant damage was caused to the home, which allegedly took place while a child was present. Samuel Cettell also allegedly attempted to prevent the authorities being called during the incident and physically pushed Crystal L. Cettell, 43, during an altercation.

As additional law enforcement arrived at the scene and attempted to speak with Crystal Cettell, she allegedly became “irate” and proceeded to rip a wooden handrail from the entryway of the home. Westfield Police also alleges that she slammed a door and attempted to evade the responding officers.

Samuel and Crystal Cettell were both charged with multiple offenses, including criminal mischief in the fourth degree; endangering the welfare of a child; obstructing governmental administration in the second degree; and resisting arrest. Samuel Cettell also faces an additional count of criminal mischief in the fourth degree. They were both transported to the Chautauqua County Jail for further processing.
