GARAGES DESTROYED IN
WESTFIELD FIRE
WESTFIELD — Two garages were destroyed early Friday in a village fire.
Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Department reports at around 3:27 a.m., the Westfield Fire Department responded to 31 Grove St. The fire resulted in a complete loss of the garage and a neighboring garage. After extinguishing the fire, the Chautauqua County Fire Investigation team was requested to the scene to conduct an origin and cause fire investigation. Investigation found that the fire was caused by a complication during the fire starting process while using a wood stove in the garage. The Chautauqua County Fire Investigation Team was assisted on scene by the Westfield Police Department.
Also responding to the incident were departments from Portland, North Lake, Brocton, Ripley, Emergency Services, Ellery Center and Sherman.
JAMESTOWN POLICE
– Chase S. Pellerino, 23, of Jamestown was charged with first-degree criminal contempt at 4:12 a.m. Friday after city police officers responded to an east side address to serve a probation warrant. Through investigation, it was discovered Pellerino was allegedly actively violating a stay away order of protection with a person in the home. Pellerino was charged and taken to the city jail until he could be arraigned.
– Archie J. Nichols, 30, of Jamestown was charged with DWI, DWI Per Se over 0.08% BAC, leaving the scene of a property damage accident and speed not reasonable and prudent. On Friday, officers allegedly saw a vehicle strike a church on the north side of the city at a high rate of speed. The driver then tried to leave the scene and was pulled over by officers a short distance away. Through investigation officers found Nichols was allegedly intoxicated. Nichols was taken to the city jail and released with traffic tickets to be in Jamestown City Court later.
