JAMESTOWN POLICE
– Kelly A. Berenguer, 44, of Ashville was charged with third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, second-degree criminal using drug paraphernalia and tampering with physical evidence after a traffic stop at 12:04 a.m. Thursday. Police report the department’s K-9 Unit pulled a vehicle over in the area of Harrison and South Main streets and allegedly found Berenguer in possession of methamphetamine, a digital scale and a large quantity of U.S. currency. Berenguer was charged and taken to the city jail, where she allegedly tried to discard packaging material on the ground and then regurgitated a bag containing an additional 11.2 grams of methamphetamine. Officers conducted a thorough search in the jail and allegedly found an additional quantity of pills containing hydrocodone, a controlled substance. Berenguer was kept in the city jail until she could be arraigned.
