Saturday fire

A fire early Saturday morning damaged a vacant home at 24 Broadhead Ave., Jamestown.

The property is currently owned by the Chautauqua County Land Bank.

Jamestown firefighters responded to the fire at 12:15 a.m. and found the front porch of the home on fire with fire extending to the front porch roof and involving the vinyl siding of the second story and roof eaves at the corner of the building. The front door was closed and all first floor windows and exterior doors were either intact and/or closed or covered with plywood. Firefighters determined the fire wasn’t going to damage any neighboring buildings. All utilities had been previously disconnected.

Firefighters stretched one 1 3/4″ hand attack line to the corner of the home and put out the fire on the front porch. Within a couple minutes, the bulk of fire was knocked down. Firefighters then entered the home and searched it, confirming no one was inside. Firefighters cleared the scene at 1:50 a.m.

Off-shift firefighters were called in to assist. No injuries were reported. The fire is under investigation. Anyone with information about this fire incident is asked to contact Jamestown Fire Department Fire & Arson Tip-Line @ (716) 483-7509. Information may be left anonymously.

JAMESTOWN POLICE DEPARTMENT

— Bryanne Childers, 36, and Michael Miller, 38, are facing third-degree criminal trespass and seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.

At approximately 7:19 p.m. Friday, officers responded to an address on the South part of the City for a trespass in progress.

Through an investigation officers located Childers and Miller in a condemned residence. While searching the suspects, officers found a quantity of cocaine on both of them. Both were transported to the Jamestown City Jail and later released.

— Kylah M. Seiberg, 29, of Jamestown, was charged with resisting arrest and several felony warrants. At approximately 12:28 a.m. Tuesday, officers attempted to check on a suspicious vehicle in the area of Lakeview Avenue. While doing so, Seiberg, who was wanted out of the Jamestown Police Department on several felony warrants, ran from the vehicle.

After a brief foot pursuit, Seiberg was taken into custody without incident.

Seiberg was additionally charged with resisting arrest for fleeing from Police who were giving commands to stop. Seiberg was held in the Jamestown City jail pending arraignment.

COUNTY SHERIFF’S DEPARTMENT

— LAKEWOOD — A Florida man was injured in a boating mishap on Saturday. At 1:15 p.m., Anthony Pineda, 31, of Lakewood, was operating the vessel when Jamal Jaber, 30, of Lake Worth, Fla., jumped overboard from the swim platform without notifying Pineda. Jabar struck the moving propeller causing severe lacerations on his lower left leg, knee and thigh. Jaber was transported to Hamot Medical Center in Erie.

— MAYVILLE — At around 8:34 p.m. Saturday, the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office conducted a traffic stop on East Chautauqua Street. The operator was identified as Joseph F. Monaco, 24, of Chesterland, Ohio. Further investigation found Monaco to be driving while intoxicated. Monaco was charged with DWI and Speed in Zone, and will be in the Town of Chautauqua Court later.

— MAYVILLE At around 3:06 a.m., the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office stopped a recreational vehicle that was traveling on Clark Street. The operator was identified as Michael J. Trippy, 38, of Westfield. Further investigation found Trippy to be Driving While Intoxicated. Trippy was charged with DWI and Unregistered Motor Vehicle and was later released with tickets to be in the Town of Chautauqua Court later.

— HANOVER — at 11:44 p.m. Friday the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office conducted a traffic stop on Alleghany Road. The operator was identified as Melanie A. Schultz, 40, of Lancaster. Further investigation found Schultz to be driving while intoxicated. Schultz was charged with DWI, DWI per se, and failing to stop at a stop sign. She was issued tickets to be in the Town of Hanover Court at a later date.
