— ELLERY — An investigation is continuing into a Saturday morning blaze.

The Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office along with The New York State Police and several fire agencies responded to the structure fire on Maple Springs-Ellery Road. Upon arrival, it was discovered that a building on the property was fully involved and there were no injuries to any persons on site.

An investigation into the cause of the fire is ongoing. Further information will be released at a later date and time.

— CHAUTAUQUA — Deputies responded to a report of a vehicle in a ditch on Route 430 at 9 p.m. Saturday. Upon arrival the vehicle was located and it was apparent the operator fled the scene.

The operator was later located in a wooded area nearby and identified as Stephanie M. Nick, 39, of Falconer. Through an investigation it was determined Nick was intoxicated. She was charged with Aggravated DWI (BAC .18% or Higher), DWI, third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation, moving from lane unsafely, failure to keep right, no insurance, and consumption of alcohol in a motor vehicle. Nick was released to return to town court at a later date. There were no injuries or property damage as a result of this accident.

JAMESTOWN POLICE DEPARTMENT

— A male on the roof of a moving vehicle has led to charges against a Jamestown woman.

Rochelle A. Leak Brown, 28, was charged with first-degree reckless endangerment, three counts of endangering the welfare of a child and fourth degree criminal mischief after a Saturday afternoon incident on the east side.

At about 3:19 p.m., officers responded to a report of a male on the roof of a vehicle that was being driven by a Brown. Officers were able to locate the vehicle and observed the male still on the roof of the car while it was still in motion but was able to successfully stop it without any further incident.

Further investigation revealed that a domestic dispute occurred between Brown and the victim at a separate location and during the incident Brown got into her vehicle while the victim was already on the roof of the vehicle and proceeded to drive away while her three young children were in the vehicle. She drove through several busy city streets while the victim was on the roof of the vehicle and at one point the victim fell from the roof of the vehicle causing him to sustain a small laceration on his leg.

It was also revealed that Brown broke a necklace by tearing it off the victim’s neck prior to driving away with the victim on the roof of the vehicle.

She was taken into custody and was being held pending arraignment by Jamestown City Court.

— Destinee A. French, 28, of Jamestown is charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, resisting arrest and third-degree escape after an incident Saturday night. Officers observed French walking on Maple Street near Camp Street around 8 p.m.

Officers were aware French had numerous outstanding warrants from the Jamestown Police Department. Upon making contact French attempted to flee in an attempt to resist officers from making an arrest. After a brief foot pursuit French was taken into custody.

Due to French’s stature she was able to take both wrists out of the handcuffs and attempted to flee again causing officers to engage in a second foot pursuit. French was taken into custody and transported to Jamestown City Jail where officers located a quantity of methamphetamine in her property.

French was also held pending arraignment for her outstanding warrants.

— Steven M. Lester, 37, of Jamestown was charged with third-degree burglary, fourth-degree criminal mischief and petit larceny Court after an incident at a business Saturday morning.

Officers responded to a burglary in progress at a business on East Second Street. Upon arrival, officers cleared the building and found that the male had exited out of a window onto the second story roof. The male then climbed the air conditioning units and entered a through a window on the third floor of the same building to gain access to a staircase leading to the roof.

The individual was located on the top of the roof and was identified as Lester. He was in possession of items that were stolen out of the business, and further investigation revealed that he defecated in the business’ shower.

Lester was taken into custody without further incident and transported to the Jamestown City Jail where he was being held pending arraignment.

— Jeremy D. Lyons was charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance. At 9:30 p.m., officers

responded to a trespass at the Spring Street parking ramp. Upon arrival officers made contact with multiple juveniles who advised officers that an unknown subject was consuming suspected narcotics inside the stairwell.

Officers checked the ramp and located Lyons asleep on the floor of the stairwell near a puddle of urine with numerous hypodermic instruments and other drug paraphernalia in plain sight. Officers checked Lyons and located a quantity of amphetamines.

He was taken into custody and transported to the Jamestown City Jail where he was held pending arraignment as he has failed to appear in court numerous times for previous incidents.
