Gunfire destroys vehicles, businesses in Jamestown

Two vehicles and a business were damaged by gunfire in an incident Friday evening on East Second Street.

Around 9:43 p.m., officers of the Jamestown Police Department Violent Crime Unit responded to the area of 713 E. Second St. for a report of multiple gunshots.

Upon arrival, officers located Darius L. Franklin and another male physically fighting in the road. Officers were able to take both males into custody. While on scene, officers were advised by a female victim that Franklin, 25, of Jamestown, had fired multiple shots at her.

Officers were able to locate a shotgun behind a vehicle in the parking lot next to the business that was used in the shooting. Through investigation, it was determined that Franklin fired multiple rounds at the female.

He was transported to the Jamestown City Jail without further incident and charged with first-degree reckless endangerment, fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon and second-degree menacing.

Franklin was held in the Jamestown City Jail pending arraignment in city court.

JAMESTOWN POLICE DEPARTMENT

— An Olean resident who was a fugitive of justice was picked up Friday night by city police. Officers observed Dasai Bradberry, 21, in a vehicle at Winsor Street and East Sixth Street. He was found to be a parole absconder from Pennsylvania. Bradberry was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Jamestown City Jail. He was held pending arraignment.

CHAUTAUQUA COUNTY SHERIFF’S DEPARTMENT

— GERRY — Nearly 10 ounces of cocaine were seized in a traffic stop late Friday, Chautauqua County sheriff’s deputies reported.

Deputies stopped a vehicle for speeding shortly after 11 p.m. on Route 60. Deputies noticed a plastic bag with a white powdery substance in the vehicle.

After searching the vehicle, deputies found 9.9 ounces of cocaine, 17.74 grams of fentanyl, a digital scale and packaging material for the sale and distribution of narcotics and $135.

The driver, Megan Leeper, 22, of Jamestown, and the passenger, Kori Robinson, 25, of Buffalo were both taken into custody and charged with first-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and second-degree criminally using drug paraphernalia.

Robinson and Leeper were transported to the Chautauqua County Jail for the Centralized Arraignment Program.

— RIPLEY — A month-long investigation into narcotics sales in Ripley resulted in investigators from the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office, Dunkirk Police Department, city of Jamestown Police Department and US Customs and Border Protection executing a search warrant at 6271 Barnes Road around 6:25 a.m. Thursday. Entry was made into the residence by the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s SWAT. Inside the residence at the time of the search was Seth Munson and Jaelyn Kuczynski. As a result of the search Investigators seized 2.42 grams of fentanyl, 17 dosage units of LSD, and scales and packaging material for the distribution of narcotics. Munson was charged with third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and second-degree criminally using drug paraphernalia. Munson also had an arrest warrant out of the Town of Ripley. He was transported to the centralized arraignment program at the Chautauqua County Jail. Kuczynski had a federal arrest warrant and was taken into custody by US Customs and Border Patrol Agents.

NEW YORK STATE POLICE

— ATTICA — Troopers out of Warsaw with the assistance of New York State Department of Corrections and Community Supervision charged Cheyanne B. Doner, 24, of Dunkirk, with second-degree promoting prison contraband. Troopers said Doner had marijuana in her possession while inside the Attica Correctional Facility. She was released with tickets returnable to Attica town court at a later date.
