CHAUTAUQUA COUNTY SHERIFF’S DEPARTMENT

— WESTFIELD — At about 3:38 p.m. Friday, Chautauqua County sheriff’s deputies observed an individual taking merchandise from a business on East Main Street in the village. The subject was identified as Thomas Majkowski, 47, of Ripley. Majkowski was taken into custody and was subsequently charged with petit larceny and fifth-degree criminal possession of stolen property. He was released will be in village court at a later date.

DUNKIRK FIRE DEPARTMENT

— A fire Saturday afternoon on the upper floors damaged a home at 519 McKinley Ave. in Dunkirk.

Dunkirk Fire Department responded to the location at 2:38 p.m. Upon arrival, firefighters entered the single-family home and extinguished the blaze on the second floor and attic.

All residents had evacuated prior to fire department arrival and there were no injuries.

The Red Cross was assisting the occupants. The cause of the fire was ruled accidental. East Dunkirk Fire assisted at the scene.

CATTARAUGUS COUNTY SHERIFF’S

DEPARTMENT

— CATTARAUGUS — A 14-year-old youth is facing charges after a domestic incident at 35 Waverly Ave. at 8:30 p.m. Saturday. Deputies report the teen was charged with three counts of second-degree harassment and one count of fourth-degree criminal mischief. The youth is due in Family Court later.

— PERRYSBURG — A driver avoided serious injuries after a one-car crash around 1:01 a.m. Sunday. Deputies report the vehicle went off of Jolls Road, hit a culvert and struck a tree. The driver of the vehicle, who was not at the site of the accident when deputies arrived, was later located at a nearby residence and was evaluated and not charged. No property was damaged in the incident.

JAMESTOWN POLICE DEPARTMENT

— At about 10:18 a.m. Saturday, police responded to the south side of the city for a report of a trespass inside of a condemned residence. After an investigation, it was determined that Jamestown residents Matthew W. Buck, 31, Andrea P. Robbins, 35, and Aaron M. Albaugh, 38, were inside the condemned residence unlawfully. The subjects did not comply with the officers’ numerous commands to exit the dwelling, forcing officers to gain entry to locate them and place them in custody.

All were transported to the Jamestown city jail without further incident and were charged with third-degree criminal trespass and second-degree obstructing governmental administration.

— At about 3:24 p.m. Friday, Jamestown Police responded to an address on the South Side of the city after a domestic dispute. Upon arrival, officers were unable to make contact with the female victim.

Officers continued to knock on the door until they finally made contact with the female. After further investigation it was discovered that the female victim was assaulted and prevented from calling for police assistance by the suspect, Joshua M. Verrett, 25, of Jamestown. It was also discovered that there is a valid stay away order of protection against Verrett protecting the female victim. He was located inside of the residence and charged with third-degree assault, fourth-degree criminal mischief, aggravated criminal contempt and aggravated family offense.

He was transported to the city jail where he was being held pending arraignment.
