A woman crossing West Main Street in the village of Falconer was struck and killed Tuesday afternoon.

The Ellicott Police Department is investigating the fatal vehicle-pedestrian accident, which occurred around 2:30 p.m. Members of the Falconer Fire Department, Chautauqua County EMS and county Fire Police team also responded.

Det. Kevin Pierce of the Ellicott Police Department said a pickup truck turning west off South Phetteplace Street struck the woman as she was crossing the road.

The woman, whose name was not immediately released, was pronounced dead at the scene. Pierce said the investigation remains ongoing.
