County: Several Options To Get Vaccine Still Available

Several options remain available in Chautauqua County for those who wish to get the COVID-19 vaccine.

The county Health Department on Tuesday reminded local residents of those options.

“If you have been waiting for full FDA approval of a COVID-19 vaccine before you get vaccinated, today is your day!” the county said in a message posted to Facebook.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration on Monday gave full approval to Pfizer’s COVID-19 vaccine. According to the Associated Press, more than 200 million Pfizer doses have been administered in the U.S. under emergency provisions — and hundreds of millions more worldwide — since December.

In going a step further and granting full approval, the FDA cited months of real-world evidence that serious side effects are extremely rare.

President Joe Biden said that for those who hesitated to get the vaccine until it received what he dubbed the “gold standard” of FDA approval, “the moment you’ve been waiting for is here.”

“Please get vaccinated today,” he said.
