All Reported School Budgets Pass Votes

It was good news for the nine school district reporting their budget vote results by press time.

On Tuesday, seven of 14 school district in Chautauqua County counted their votes Tuesday and two school districts in Cattaraugus County all reported their budgets passed during the annual school budget vote.

This year all votes were cast by absentee ballots because of the COVID-19 pandemic. In Chautauqua County, seven of the school districts tallied the votes themselves, which included Clymer, Falconer, Forestville, Frewsburg, Panama, Pine Valley and Ripley.

The other seven had the Chautauqua County Board of Elections count votes, which included Westfield, Brocton, Bemus Point, Silver Creek, Cassadaga Valley, Southwestern and Fredonia. The board of elections will count the votes for Jamestown, Chautauqua Lake, Sherman and Dunkirk Wednesday.

Southwestern

Southwestern Central School’s budget passed by a vote of 894 to 479. A proposition for school bus purchases passed by a vote of 877 to 499.

Named to the school board for three-year terms include: Kurt Gustafson, Richard Harlmann and Uma Vejendla.

Bemus Point

The Bemus Point Central School District budget totaling $15,440,364 was approved by a vote of 597 to 368. District voters also approved a $275,000 proposition to purchase new school buses by a vote of 627 to 341. District voters also re-elected incumbents Benjamin Gerring, Tina Hall and Bethany Seastrom to the board of education.

Cassadaga Valley

Cassadaga Valley Central School District budget totaling $23,943,897 was approved by a vote of 629 to 402. District voters approved Aaron Richner, with 422 votes, as a member to the board of education, defeating Diane Ellsworth, with 338 votes, and Elizabeth Martin, with 243 votes.

Forestville

Forestville Central School District budget was approved by a vote of 365 to 220 . Incumbents Amy Drozdziel, who received 499 votes, David Caccamise, who received 457 votes, were re-elected to the board of education.

Panama

Panama Central School District budget totaling $12,904,396 was approved by a vote of 382 to 166. District voters approved a capital improvement reserve fund of $2 million by a vote of 373 to 174. District voters also approved Kyle Rhoades, with 411 votes, as a member of the board of education.

Pine Valley

Pine Valley Central School District budget totaling $15,763,272 was approved by a vote of 383 to 179. District voters approved a proposition for $280,000 to purchase new school buses and a van by a vote of 414 to 146. District voters also re-elected incumbents Jeffrey Chase, with 472 votes, and Christie Lokietek, with 396 votes, to the board of education. Kara Frontuto, with 410 votes, was also elected to the board.

Randolph

Randolph Central School District budget totaling $20,192,110 was approved by a vote of 543 to 90. Incumbents Louise Boutwell, with 583 votes, and David Adams, with 563 votes, were re-elected to the board of education.

Salamanca

Salamanca City Central School District totaling $43,537,292 was approved by a vote of 666 to 134. District voters approved a proposition at a cost of $129,000 to purchase two parcels of property by a vote of 657 to 157.

Silver Creek

Silver Creek Central School District budget was approved by a vote of 567 to 317. District voters approved a proposition to use the capital reserve fund to purchase two new buses and a van totaling $286,126.62 by a vote of 625 to 258. Incumbents Jerry Cross and Scott Pulver were re-elected to the board of education.

Westfield

Westfield Academy and Central School District budget totaling $16,528,339 was approved by a vote of 955 to 296. District voters also elected Kimberly Maras, with 721 votes, and Barbara Fay, with 720 votes, to the board of education. Incumbent Marie Edwards received 394 votes, John Fischer received 326 votes, and Rachael Cunningham received 293 votes.
