The James Prendergast Library will have a new executive director next year.

On Thursday, the James Prendergast Library Board of Trustees approved the retirement of Tina Scott, library executive director, and appointed Annie Greene to be the next executive director. Scott’s retirement will be effective Feb. 21, 2020, with Greene’s appointment as executive director effective Feb. 22, 2020.

Green said she has been mentored by Scott during her tenure at the library. She has been a manager for nine years and has worked at the library for 12 years.

She is looking forward to the challenges of operating the library, including the $350,000 library funding vote in May that will be voted on by residents who live inside the Jamestown Public Schools district.

“We have a lot of work to do,” Greene said.

Scott has been the director of the library for seven years and has worked at the library for 11 years. Overall, she said she has worked for libraries for the past 20 years.

Scott said she wants to thank the staff, volunteers, local foundations and the community for making her time as executive director enjoyable.

“The library is such an asset. We have so many people who support the library,” she said. “What I love the most about working at the library is working with the community.”

In other business, the library board approved its officers for next year. Joni Blackman will serve as president for another year; Lynn Warner will be vice president; Michael Corey will be treasurer; Micki McCray will be secretary; and Lori Fabritius will be assistant secretary/treasurer.

The board said goodbye to outgoing trustee Kris Denslow.

Starting at $2.99/week.
