Dylan Carlson Wins Ninth Annual ‘Chautauqua’s Got Talent’
The resilience of Dylan Carlson is proof that hard work and perseverance can pay off in the long run.
Carlson was crowned the winner of the ninth annual “Chautauqua’s Got Talent” competition at The Spire Theater on Monday, triumphing over the nine other contestants who also performed in the Week Five finale.
“To have this validation is so overwhelming right now, especially when you’ve prepared yourself not to have it,” Carlson said. “I’ve done so many competitions over the years, and it’s kind of worn me down after a while because losing sucks. But I put a lot of hard work in and the other contestants this year have been so welcome, warm and encouraging, and that was really the best thing to come from this whole experience.”
As winner, Carlson received a grand prize of $900 and studio time with Ron Wheeler at Impact Sound Co. and Lost Recording Studio, coming soon to downtown Jamestown.
The other contestants to appear in Monday’s final round of competition included Amanda Forbes, Jackie Bielata, Jubal Samuelson, Devin Bielata, Miranda Wilcox, Karle Christoph, Avryiana Atwater , Ayri Brady and Angel Rodriguez. Angelo Giuffre, co-owner of The Spire Theater and Big Time Productions, and co-producer of “Chautauqua’s Got Talent,” echoed Carlson’s sentiments about the offstage camaraderie that developed between this year’s contestants.
“This is one of those years where, no matter who won, all the other contestants would be happy for them,” Giuffre said. “Every one of these performers really love and support each other. And so, while I’m sure some of them are sad they didn’t win, that’s been overshadowed by the fact that they’re happy for Dylan. And I’m extremely happy for Dylan; I’ve been rooting for him for years. I’m glad he was finally able to achieve that goal.”
The Spire Theater is located at 317 E. Third St. in Jamestown. For more information on the annual “Chautauqua’s Got Talent” competition, contact Angelo Giuffre at 450-7357, or by email at jamestownspire@gmail.com. Auditions for next year’s competition will be held in February.
